What is Laser Etching? (back to top)
Laser Etching is a process that replicates any image (our laser shoots in high definition detail at 1200 dpi) onto substrates such as granite, travertine, marble, glass, tile, leathers, wood, etc. for endless application possibilities that are permanent and unique.
What types of applications are available? (back to top)
Think ORIGINAL & CUSTOM finished products:
Stone rugs, tiles, accent pieces, medallions, liners
Plagues of photographs, pictures, images, logos, personalized
Memorial plagues, headstones, garden stones
ETC………
Do I pick out a pattern or artwork from a catalog? (back to top)
No, we offer 100% custom work. That means that our clients tell us what their vision/plan/ideas are and our talented team of artists and craftsmen design (or find) something just for you; from drafts/illustrations/graphics to the finished piece(s).
What are the charges for laser etching? (back to top)
MasterWorks charges are based on square footage predominantly, and include the creative process, design, laser etching, hand painting and colorization processes, and craftsmanship of each piece. The range is from $80 to $295 per square foot depending on the specifications.
Do you use color on your etchings? (back to top)
Of course; color adds drama, depth, and character in most applications. Our proprietary color processing is used and color is applied by our Artisans, by hand. We have true color match; any color, any shade. Color is protected with a polymer (used in the maritime industry), no chipping, fading, or peeling.
Who provides the materials? (back to top)
In most cases – you do. We require a 10% overage of total materials for testing and because ‘things happen’ working with natural stone (it’s not consistent like a man made substrate). We also want to ensure the entire job gets done on the same lot of material.
How long is the lead time? (back to top)
Depending on our backlog and the complexity of the designs, etc. it can be anywhere from two to eight weeks. We can accommodate rush projects – depending on job, availability, etc.
How big can a piece be? (back to top)
With our high-end laser, we can accommodate any single slab up to 10 ft x 6 ft, weighing up to 4 thousand pounds and up to 27” in depth.
Do you deliver the product? (back to top)
We do NOT transport materials or finished products. Clients (or contractors/installers) arrange for drop off, pick up, or freight transfer, etc. Our insurance does not cover.
Are you a wholesaler or retailer? (back to top)
We do wholesale to distributors / retailers and also work directly with clients. We have a Vendor Agreement in place for referrals.
Do you have warranty on your products? (back to top)
MasterWorks guarantees OUR work – no time limit – if we do something wrong, we’ll fix it. We guarantee the Polymer sealant for ten years, but know it lasts longer.
Will you reproduce any image or photo? (back to top)
Yes, however we honor copy right pieces and will not reproduce those without proper approval.
Can work be done on site? (back to top)
No, unless it’s to repair or touch-up a piece that has already been installed.
Are your finished products durable? (back to top)
Yes. We developed proprietary chemical processes to insure the everlasting permanent durability of your piece. We take the best of the old world traditions used to create works such as an Italian fresco (which has proven the test to time) and then protect it with a rock hard state-of-the-art polymer. The estimated life of laser etchings is 500+ years outdoors and for interior surfaces virtually forever.
Are laser etched products hard to keep clean? (back to top)
No. Normal dusting and damp mopping using warm water. We recommend using specifically formulated neutral cleaners for natural stone to help remove soils that normal cleaning leaves behind.
